While sportswashing is a relatively new term, the practice of using sporting events as image campaigns can be traced back to ancient Greece. Today, the World Cup in Qatar is generally regarded as “bought”. However, this hardly comes as a surprise to the most sports scientists: After all, according to experts, corruption is a structural component in organizations such as FIFA, to which states submit in order to use sporting events as a world stage.

I was approached to design the header as well as an illustration for the social media channels of the magazine.
